With the 2024 season starting this week, our team has compiled the predictions for the 2024 season. There is no surprise, that Red Bull is our #1 pick for the Championship title, however we think the rest of our choices, may be a surprise.
Constructors’ Championship prediction according to F1 Blast
1. Red Bull
2. Ferrari
3. McLaren
4. Mercedes
5. Aston Martin
6. Racing Bulls (VCARB)
7. Alpine
8. Williams
9. Sauber
10. Haas
1. Red Bull
We do not anticipate any revolution in the Constructors Standings. Red Bulls’ domination will continue, as Adrian Newey delivered another rocketship instead of a car. The winter tests showerd the potential of the RB20, and driven by Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez, the team should easily secure the Constructors Championship. Depending on the form of the Mexican driver, Red Bull may not want to extend the contract with Sergio. So both drivers, will have something to fight for, and in total that should deliver a great advantage.
2. Ferrari
Ferrari is considered by us the second strongest team, with an even lineup. Although it will be difficult to compete with Red Bull throughout the whole season, we expect the team from Maranello to secure P2 in the standings. The fight won’t be easy, as McLaren and Mercedes will be highly competitive. Also, the second half of the season will be in strange circumstances, as Carlos Sainz will be replaced by Lewis Hamilton in 2025. Ferrari may be hesitant to provide upgrades to his car, and share information on the new updates coming up.
3. McLaren
The Papaya team has a great driver lineup, with Lando Norris, and Oscar Piastri, who did an amazing job as a rookie and will most likely perform on much higher level in 2024. The McLaren may have a bit more difficult to the campaign this year. Although, the pace is much better than in 2023, the reliability issues stripped them from big chunk the winter testing.
4. Mercedes
Mercedes comes to the 2024 season in the worst condition it has been for many years. The car seems really difficult to drive, and Red Bull brought a zero-pod design, which Mercedes tried and gave up. Also, with Lewis departure from Mercedes, George Russel will have to take the fight, and in our opinion he is not capable of performing under pressure.
5. Aston Martin
Aston Martin after the great entry to the 2023 season, showed that they still lack development capability and skills to stay in contention with the leading teams. Although Fernando Alonso managed multiple podium finishes, the car was further off the lead with every race. With no revolution in the technical regulations, there is not much Aston could bring to improve their car. What does not help is the lack of support from Lance Stroll. The Canadian driver was far behind Fernando all season, and barely contributed to the team summary.
6. Visa Cash App Racing Bulls
The rebranded Alpha Tauri, with refreshed livery and updated sponsors, will most likely finish behind Aston Martin, but ahead of the other teams. Replacing Nyck De Vries with Daniel Ricciardo, and bringing many upgrades to the car in 2023, helped climb from the bottom in the last season. The team from Faenza finished on a high note, and if they can keep their momentum into 2024, they will be able to compete for points on a regular basis.
7. Alpine
The French team has a structural problem. Just as the fish rots from the head down, the Alpine team is rotting from the head down. The issue is fundamental in the approach, and lack of additional funding to compete for better results. The team, which used to be 4th in the Constructors, started their downfall couple years ago. Team directors have been let off, engineers have been fired mid-season, and the team represents the French chaotic approach and lack of organization. Alpine has the worst Power Unit of all teams, and is approximately 20-30 Horsepower loss to the other manufacturers. Unless disaster strikes up ahead, Alpine will struggle to compete for the podiums.
8. Williams
With a heartbreak, we had to put Williams in 8th. They had a great underdog story last year, and Alex Albon gave 200% of the car’s possibilities, but they simply lack too much. In 2023, they finished 7th, with a loss to Alpine of 5x the amount of points they scored. This gap is simply too big to overcome with William’s budget. Having only small gap over the remaining teams, Williams will most likely score more points in 2023, but finish lower than 7th. Should Logan Sargeant start scoring points on a regular basis, they may be able to put up a fight, but I do not believe this to be enough to catch up.
9. Sauber
Sauber team had a poor 2023 season, and with the departure of Alfa Romeo, and new sponsors coming in, there is quite a lot of hope for the revival of Sauber. However, it takes a while to develop the car and bring upgrades. The issue is that Sauber is most likely to be acquired by Audi in 2026, and the team has to rethink their values – whether to invest the money into the two seasons of change, or to invest heavily in 2026 and fight for much higher targets.
10. Haas
Haas team will finish last. This is not a prediction, but a statement. The lack of investment from Gene Haas, the departure of Gunther Steiner weeks before the season start, the controversy with the lack of development. There are many stormy clouds over the only US team. The new Team Director, Ayao Komatsu, openly admitted that they will be the slowest team in Bahrain. The pessimistic approach from inside the team, and the lack of perspectives for upgrades throughout the season predicts a dark days. It is not excluded, that Haas will fail to score a single point throughout the whole season. Such turn of events would be a huge disaster, and a great opportunity for Andretti to buy the Haas team.
